London Congestion Zone

Am I, as the renter, responsible for paying the London Congestion Charge?

Yes, you are if you enter or leave the charging zone between 07:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday. Please be aware that it is the renting drivers responsibility to pay, if you fail to do so we will provide your details to the relevant authority and apply an admin fee of £25.00

You do not have to pay the charge on weekends, English public holidays, designated non-charging days, or between 18:00 and 07:00.

London Congestion Charge

From February 17th 2003 Congestion Charging began to operate in the heart of London.  Drivers are warned on roads leading into the zone that they are approaching the charging zone.

When and How Much

Everyone including drivers of rental vehicle(Drivers of People Carriers with nine seat's or more are exempt). Driving or parking on public roads between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday in the congestion charging zone has to pay a daily charge of £8 to the Transport for London (TfL) group. This payment allows you to enter, drive around and leave the congestion charging zone as many times as you wish that day.

How You Can Pay

Payment can be made via the TfL call centre, by SMS, via the web, in retail outlets offering the PayPoint service or in Post Offices. Please click here for more information about payment.

The charge of £8 can be paid at any time up to midnight on the day of entry into or exit from the zone. Payment of the charge the following day is possible but charge would increase to £10.

Penalty Charges

If the payment is not made by midnight the following day a Penalty Charge notice of £120 will be issued which the hirer is liable to pay.
